Movement Studio Beginning Aerial Dance on Trapeze with Charly McCreary. Saturday, April 19th through Saturday May 17th 11:30am-1:00pm Cost: $80.00 In this session, students will explore the low-flying dance trapeze at a beginning level. Utilizing technical vocabulary learned in class, improvisational exercises, choreography and conditioning, students will grow stronger and more confident in the air and on the ground. Guest instructors will occasionally visit class to offer new approaches to what students are learning. To enroll for the intermediate class, you must have mastery of basic aerial skills including: - 3 basic trapeze mounts - aerial vocabulary taught in Charly's beginner sessions - improvisational work on the ground and in the air You must also be able to do at least 2 pull ups and have moderate overall strength and stamina before enrolling in this class. Movement Studio Free hip hop dance classes for young people 9th -12th grade! This class serves as a positive way for middle and high school students to express themselves through hip-hop music and dance. Students work in groups and as individuals. Students act as choreographers, creating new dance moves with the instructor to be performed in class. New students may begin at anytime. In Band 101, students will learn the basics of the music industry at both a local and national level. Each class begins with a class discussion. In these discussions, students learn about various topics such as: · Making your first record After each class discussion, the class breaks into bands. The bands, each overseen by their own musical mentor, will work collaboratively to write, create, and perform original music. The overall goal is to bring the students to a level in which they can perform at Rock School showcases and record in our studio. The Neighborhood Help volunteer to promote Delridge Day! Meet at Youngstown at 10 AM for snacks and an orientation meeting. After training, we will go door-to-door in Delridge to hand out fliers. Theater Angie Angliam of the Seattle Young People's Project will present her Senior Thesis on the influence of Hip Hop culture with a panel discussion featuring members of Seattle Hip Hop community. The conversation will focus on the foundation of Hip Hop culture on social consciousness and will address how violence and other negative social phenomena have entered the culture and affected youth. Included in the panel are Angela Dy, an MC and organizer, and Dr. Mako Fitts, a professor at Seattle University.
